San Francisco Chinatown is the largest Chinatown outside of Asia and the oldest Chinatown in North America and is located right in the heart of the city between the Financial District and Union Square shopping.  A walking tour would be a great way to soak up a little bit of history. Downtown SF tends to get busy, so heading there in the morning  a little before the shops open is a good time to find parking and get a head start before the crowds.
